The most amazing screenshot you’ll ever see from Destiny

destiny

In spite of all that Bungie promised for Destiny power leveling before launch, of how much the game encourages grinding, and of how the story is presented, I personally maintain that it’s a great game. Sure, there are plenty of things to improve on, but Bungie sure got a lot right – case in point, Destiny looks gorgeous. As a result, it spawned some pretty impressive player-captured screenshots; none, however, come close to this one.

Taken by one Reddit user, with all the HUD elements photoshopped out by another, the screenshot features a Warlock punching an enemy Thrall in the Cosmodrome. What started as a meaningless encounter ended up as this (make sure you click to enlarge):

Stopping at that particular point in time – in the middle of a melee – showcases just how beautiful Destiny really is, and how much effort went into crafting the game. The vibrant colours, the particles dancing across the screen, the electricity shimmering down the player’s arm, the focus distortion, the shadows, the individual rocks and pebbles, and even a glimpse of the green night sky above – all these elements combine to form one ordinary moment of gameplay captured in one gorgeous screenshot.

I discussed in another piece how the Xbox One‘s upcoming screenshot feature encourages users to observe the world around them – as has the PlayStation 4 since launch – whether they mean to or not. Video games have made incredibly leaps and bounds over the last decade alone, especially in terms of visual fidelity. A game considered ‘beautiful’ 5 years ago wouldn’t look nearly as good as some games we have today that are labelled as ‘mediocre’.

As video games progress further and further in their capabilities of world-building – not just in graphics and resolution, but in the finer details and aesthetic design – we have to stop to smell the roses more often. Images as gorgeous as this happen so often that we don’t even think to capture them.

It’s time to stop taking video games for granted, and start snapping more of those screenshots.

Destiny: How to glitch Heavy Ammo

Destiny is a game filled with shortcuts, cheeses, and glitches players discovered to ease their way through the game’s myriad of activities. This guide details one of the many ways to quickly generate Heavy Ammo – a useful tip for Strikes, Nightfalls, and Raids (especially Raids).

3Step 1

Empty all of your Primary and Heavy Ammo (we’re assuming you don’t have Heavy Ammo at this point anyway, hence the glitch). This may take a while for the Primary, but the process speeds up if you switch weapons once and then use the swapped weapon after a reduced ammo penalty (for swapping).

It may take a minute, depending on what gun you have – during this step, I recommend getting into a safe place and not shooting anyone just yet.

Step 2

Once you lose all your Primary Ammo, you’re going to equip Ice Breaker (or at least pull out, if you already have it equipped). The reason we’re using Ice Breaker is because the ammo regenerates, so we won’t have any use for Special Ammo drops.

Use Ice Breaker to shoot as many enemies as you like – they should drop one box of Heavy Ammo per kill.

Just make sure you don’t pick up any ammo until you’re ready to do so, as picking up Primary or Heavy Ammo will stop the glitch from working.

Alternative method

Alternatively, for those who don’t have Ice Breaker, you can just empty all of your ammunition, and the game will automatically refresh it – all of your weapons must be empty, and the refresh takes about 10-15 seconds.

This ‘method’ is well-known, considering it was built directly into the game, but it’s also a useful way to gain some more Heavy Ammo if you find that enemies aren’t dropping any.

Both of these are alternatives to using a Heavy Synth, if you find yourself in a situation where you don’t have any or you’re too stingy to use one – or worse, on a cool down from already using one.

Destiny Share Infinite Thrall Glitch Provides Easy Loot And Experience

Destiny players keep finding creative ways to farm new loot for their characters. Their latest trick, dubbed the “Infinite Thrall Glitch,” is one of the easiest tricks yet. Destiny power leveling your game makes it easier.

To perform the Infinite Thrall glitch, you’ll need to head to Earth. Select the early story mission “The Dark Within” and head to the Skywatch. Soon after you enter the Lunar Complex, you’ll hit a Darkness Zone and find a gate that your Ghost has to open.

Summon your DinklageBot and let him start working. Don’t go through the gate, though. Instead, hop on your Sparrow and head to the adjoining room. Drive behind the red crate in the corner and stop with your Sparrow parallel to the broken wall there. Hop off your Sparrow and you’ll pass through the wall. Crouch under some wreckage and head through the crack in the wall. Now you’re outside.

Follow the snowy path outside and eventually you’ll be able to hop onto the roof of the complex. You’ll find an entrance back into the building there and will eventually find yourself in the room where you encountered the Hive Wizard in your first play-through of this mission.

However, there’s a crucial difference this time around: there are almost no enemies there. The only Hive you’ll find are a pair of Thralls who spawn for a couple seconds and then disappear. In Se7enSins’ video, they’re level 3 but you can tweak that when you’re first selecting the mission from orbit.

destiny

The Thralls will keep respawning even if you kill them. This means you can easily farm them for Glimmer, loot, and experience. This is a great place for you to grind out certain Bounties as well. The only limit to how much you can farm is your ammo supply.

Bungie will probably remove the exploit soon. In the past, they’ve shown that they don’t want any get-rich-quick bugs in the game. Since Destiny launched, they’ve shut down “loot caves” and other exploits. This particular bug seems like it’ll be easy to fix; all Bungie needs to do is prevent players from clipping through that one wall. If you’re looking for an easy grind, better take advantage of the Infinite Thrall glitch while you can.

This exploit has been live for at least a week. Patch 1.1.1 fixed a lot of issues, such as the heavy ammo bug, but the Infinite Thralls seem to have escaped their notice for now.

Destiny Share Bungie finally fix some of gamers’ most despised bugs

While the Destiny updates have slowed down considerably since the game’s launch back in September, this week was a big one for fans. Not only did Bungie finally fix some of gamers’ most despised bugs – namely the heavy ammo bug – but they also made some tweaks to weapon damage across the board.

destiny

However, what we did not know was that a second Destiny power leveling was in the works that arguably is the most exciting change in quite some time. Bungie has apparently heard gamers’ requests, and they have finally added mobile Vault management to the game.

As revealed in today’s Bungie update, players will now be able to manage their Vault inventory directly from the Destiny Companion App or Bungie.net. That means they can take items and put them directly on their character, or they can store them in the Vault – all without having to switch characters or visit the Tower.

Destiny: Second Set Of DLC The House of Wolves Expansion

Over the past few weeks, Bungie has let loose some alleged details regarding the missions and locations available in the expansion, such as a playable social area in the Reef, similar to the Tower. However, it appears that Bungie had already revealed the Reef was a playable area in 2013, during Destiny‘s original announcement.

During Destiny‘s announcement video, Bungie’s co-founder Jason Jones discussed the project the developer had been working on since their departure from the Halo franchise. What followed were a few concept models of Guardians, some in-game footage, and – most importantly – gameplay from within the Reef’s social area.

The short clip shows a Guardian standing in the Reef and panning the camera across, showing off a gorgeous setting, scraps of destroyed ships, and Fallen harmlessly patrolling the walkways. Skip to 1:20 to see the clip.

This clip suggests that Bungie had the Reef, or an incomplete version at least, somewhat playable during Destiny power leveling early development cycle. Either Bungie developed the content and held it for paid DLC later, or they had a rough concept in mind that they would develop at a later point in time.

Either way, the Reef was, at some point in Destiny‘s lifespan, playable, and a conscious decision was made to include it as part of the upcoming House of Wolves expansion pack.

At this point it’s pure speculation as to whether this original idea persisted and became the Reef’s social area – the one included with the House of Wolves expansion – or if it was scrapped along the way, and we receive something entirely different.

Destiny: Senior art team publish series of galleries of weapons

David Stammel, a hard surface artist at Bungie, has published nearly thirty high fidelity renders of in-game Destiny items, from exotic sniper rifles to shotguns, Vex weapons, and Fallen arms.

February 13 Xur position: Plan C exotic fusion rifle from Destiny

If one thing Bungie has got right, it’s the replayability features of Destiny. Where Rockstar fails without a weekly GTA V event, Destiny’s Xur location on February 13 ensures that players keep coming back for more and coming back with a smile on their face.

destiny

We know that Xur hasn’t offered the wares that you would have liked the last few weeks, but he did offer the Ice Breaker a few weeks ago and that was a major deal considering it’s still arguably the best weapon in Destiny power leveling right now.

The week just passed, our Agent of the Nine offered the Plan C exotic fusion rifle – you can catch up on the news if you missed that here.

This Friday is another new location though and renewed optimism for many players, as they look to pick up the Gjallarhorn or the equally as impressive Suros Regime.

As always, the Xur location spawn time remains the same – Those on Eastern Time can expect him to appear in the tower at 4am on Friday February 13.

Destiny Needs to Evolve in These 3 Ways for True Success

Destiny

Destiny. Some love it. Some hate it. But whatever you think about it, it’scommercial success can’t be ignored. And that’s the pity, really. Because the game could have been so, so, so much better.

Many complaints have been made. Most of these echo the same few points. But for Destiny to have been the rock ‘em sock ‘em hit it aspired to be, these qualities needed to be at the top of their game.

Bungie: doesn’t plan on continuing loot system “mistakes” with future Destiny expansions

Bungie promises to take a different approach with Destiny’s loot system in upcoming expansions.
Destiny developer Luke Smith said on NeoGAF that the studio will not repeat “mistakes we made with The Dark Below reward economy.”

Now, Bungie doesn’t have anything to announce, but Smith did list resetting Exotic talents through upgrading, and the shard economy as mistakes the studio made.
“Our philosophy about rewards/loot continue to evolve as we see how players play and react,” Smith says, adding that Bungie plans to continue to make improvements to the loot rewards system and drop rates to make the acquisition of loot less cumbersome.
“We will continue to improve acquisition stories and frequency, lessen the grind and get players to the fun parts of their arsenal faster,” said Smith.

Destiny – Who are the Celebrities Behind the Voices?

Destiny - Who are the Celebrities Behind the Voices?

It’s normal in video game culture for those who show their faces on-screen to lend their voices. While it’s not on the same level as Kevin Spacey’s role in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, shooter Destiny has its fair share of celebrities, all lending their well-known voices to the game’s variety of characters.

The most notable and obvious actor to lend their voice is Peter Dinklage, known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in HBO series Game of Thrones. He takes the reigns of your Ghost throughout the shooter’s campaign, guiding you through the many missions you undertake. Following the “Wizard came from the moon” fiasco, Dinklage has reaped most of the attention, leaving the rest of the voice cast lingering in the shadows.

So who else entered the booth and brought to life the variety of characters yo interact with on a daily basis? Let’s find out!

Gina Torres – Ikora Rey, Warlock Vanguard

The American actress is well-known around the television scene, starring in established shows Suits, Hannibal, 24 and Huge. The New York native also dabbled in some other video game voice work, these include Transformers Prime: The Game, Lichdom: Battlemage, and recently her role as Ikora Rey in Destiny.
